Helena Moniz is the President of the European Association for Machine Translation (2021-) and the President of the International Association for Machine Translation (2023-). She is an Assistant Professor at the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Lisbon, where she teaches Computational Linguistics, Computer Assisted Translation, and Machine Translation Systems and Post-editing. Helena graduated in Modern Languages and Literature at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon (FLUL), in 1998. She took a Teacher Training graduation course in 2000, a Master’s degree in Linguistics in 2007, and a PhD in Linguistics at FLUL in cooperation with the Technical University of Lisbon (IST) in 2013. She has been working at INESC-ID/CLUL since 2000, in several national and international projects involving multidisciplinary teams of linguists and speech processing engineers. Within these fruitful collaborations, she participated in 19 national and international projects. Since 2015, she is also the PI of a bilateral project with INESC-ID/Unbabel, a translation company combining AI + post-editing, working on scalable Linguistic Quality Assurance processes for crowdsourcing. She was responsible for the creation of the Linguistic Quality Assurance processes developed at Unbabel for Linguistic Annotation and Editors' Evaluation. She now is working mostly on research projects involving Linguistics, Translation, and AI. She is the Chair of the Ethics Committee for the Center for Responsible AI, within the Recovery and Resilience Plan. In a sentence, she is passionate about Language Technologies and Responsible AI!

Meet Philippe Locquet, the dynamic Academic Program Manager at Wordfast. With over a decade of experience in translation and editing, he’s a master at leveraging linguistic resources. His YouTube channel, "Translators Tech Corner” is a great resource for translators looking to up their game and “spell” “success”. A plurilingual translator himself, Philippe’s expertise extends to creating quality alignments, maintaining translation memories (TMs) and glossaries. Philippe is always happy to lend a helping hand and share his knowledge, striving to make complex concepts accessible.

Reginaldo Francisco is an English-, Italian- and French-to-Portuguese translator working with literary and technical texts. He has translated several works, including Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days, and Italian writer Vamba's classic children's book, Il Giornalino di Gian Burrasca. He has a bachelor’s degree in translation from the São Paulo State University (UNESP) and a master’s in translation studies from the Federal University at Santa Catarina (UFSC), in Brazil. Reginaldo is also a Wordfast hotliner and trainer and has been providing on-site and on-line training for translators since 2009.

Late in his degree, Dani started to work as a web application developer which became his profession after he got his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Sciences. For more than 15 years, he has been working in different areas from Catalonia Government apps to one of the most used ticketing companies. His first contact with the translation industry was nearly 11 years ago when he started working on Wordfast Anywhere. From that day, he has been helping Remi André to manage and improve Wordfast Anywhere.

I was born and raised in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, but I have lived, studied and worked in several different places. I have been a translator for over a decade, most of it as a freelancer with direct customers. My main language combinations are German-Italian and French-Italian. I mostly translate editorial and communicative contents in a variety of fields such as marketing, health, advocacy, urban planning and cultural heritage, and also some literature.

Michael Farrell is primarily a freelance translator and transcreator. Over the years he has acquired experience in the cultural tourism field and in transcreating advertising copy and press releases, chiefly for the promotion of technology products. Besides this, he is also an untenured lecturer in post-editing, machine translation and computer tools for translators at the International University of Languages and Media (IULM), Milan, Italy, the developer of the terminology search tool IntelliWebSearch, a qualified member of the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters (AITI) and a member of Mediterranean Editors and Translators.
